Painkilling Medication
Painkilling medication -

If your baby is in pain then you might want to consider a painkilling medicine. There are a few brands available over the counter and some can be given from birth. Always check the label or ask your pharmacist as there are also a number of products which are only suitable from 2 or 3 months.
Most brands contain Paracetamol to relieve pain and are usually available in a sugar free variety which you should prefer.
If your child is 3 months or older then you can also use Calprofen which is a Calpol product based on Ibuprofen which is an anti inflammatory pain killer that can be particularly effective during teething.
As with all medicines follow the instructions very carefully and if you have any questions then seek professional advice from your pharmacist or NHS Direct.
